Beautiful Koycegiz
|
Koycegiz is still a traditional Turkish town and is in full swing 12 months a year. Lake Koycegiz is one of the bigger lakes in Turkey. There is access to the sea through the channel that runs past Dalyan towards Turtle beach. Koycegiz even has a beach on the lake! There are daily boat trips to the mud baths at Sultaniye and then onto Turtle beach for a swim and some sun and to top up that tan! The local boatmen will be happy to take you on fishing trips, bird watching trips or just take you where you want to go and do what you want to do.

There are several hotels, bars and restaurants along the lake side for you to relax in and watch the world go by. The town itself has a varied range of shops. You can buy the latest range of designer furniture from an air conditioned store or a fake t shirt from the market. The market is every Monday and people come from miles around to stock up on their provisions. There are small repair tailors, shoe repairers and curtain makers. The art of making things by hand has not been lost in Koycegiz. There are even a couple of working forges in the town.

Further afield there are many beaches and natural sights to be seen. About 4 miles outside of Koycegiz is a picturesque waterfall and after a climb up to find it there is nothing more relaxing than a gentle soak in its waters. There are beaches at Dalyan Sarigerme and many other little secluded bays just waiting for you to discover them. If you care to take the ferry boat from Dalyan to Candir you will be able to investigate the rock tombs and ruins of Kaunos. The ferry is a small row boat but Candir can be reached by road if you have a car.
